Being solid black, the 82-83 ( 1982 - 1983 ) Snake Eyes v1.5 figure, commando, is not particularly hard to find in near mint condition. For the extrememly discerning, it may be difficult to find a v1 Snake Eyes with shoulder joints that are still painted black. The paint on this area wears quickly, and is typically rubbed off to a silver finish. The only other real issue is that he is often missing his explosives pouch or the strap on this pouch may be broken.
Snake Eyes is one of the more desirable figures of the 1982 line, especially if he is still MOC. He was also the only Joe (non-Cobra) figure whose name and birthplace were "Classified," creating a strong mystique for the character.
Snake Eyes as 2 words, without a hyphen, is the correct spelling of this figure's code name as spelled on his file card and packaging. However, it is often mispelled as either:
Snake-Eyes or Snakeeyes
As with all 82-83 figures, Snake Eyes v1.5 is nearly identical to his original 1982 version, with the exceptions of having a slimmer waist piece and swivel-arm elbow joints.
Naming/Identification Problems: 82-83 Figures are often hard to search for with perfect results. The problem lies in the fact that this figure is identified incorrectly a lot of the time. This figure is only a 1982-1983 Figure. A 1982 Snake Eyes came only with straight arms and a bulkier waist piece. There is no 1983 Snake Eyes. Beware incorrect listings, although swivel arms should be fairly easy to spot in a decent picture. Also be wary of any seller claiming to have a 1983 Snake Eyes, as it does not exist.
