Publishing History: This series was published from January 1988 to March 1989 by Marvel Comics, running for 15 issues. This series was a direct reprinting of the first 15 issues of the 1982 Marvel G.I.Joe A Real American Hero series.
Hawk in Marvel Box: All issues have a picture of Hawk in the upper left Marvel box, except for issue 14, which inexplicably has a shorter Marvel box with no character depicted inside. This image of Hawk is often mistaken for Duke by some, as he has a short blonde, miltary haircut, but it is indeed Hawk, the original leader of the G.I.Joe team. In fact, the character of Duke was not introduced until Issue #22 of the regular series, so he does not even appear in the storyline of Tales of G.I.Joe, which only covers Issues 1-15.
